Talanta have bagged the fourth win of the season after narrowly edging Vihiga Bullets 2-1 in an FKF Premier League match staged at the Kasarani Annex on Wednesday.Heading to the game, Talanta were looking to arrest the four-game winless streak and help relieve the growing relegation fears. Bullets, on the other hand, were seeking to end the nine-game losing streak but goals from Vincent Owino and George Onyango handed them the tenth straight loss.##NAJAVA_MECA_7059485##Vihiga’s Frédérick Ochieng would have broken the deadlock in the 17th minute after he was left with the goalkeeper to beat but, the forward shot straight to his stretching legs to deny him. Ochieng, had pounced on the ball in the box after two Talanta defenders collided while trying to clear it and hence, it fell on his path. However, his hard-drilled shot was, deflected by the stretching James Omusinde to earn Vihiga the first corner in the game.Vihiga paid for the missed chance as Talanta grabbed the lead in the 26th minute through Onyango who whipped a superb freekick from the edge of the box to open his Talanta goal account. The visitors had yet another clear chance to score in the 31st minute after Vincent Ogolla drove to the area but Omusinde read the move and came out of his territory to bar the forward from pulling the trigger.Three minutes later, Vihiga had sniff at goal but once again, Omusinde came to the rescue of Talanta as he cleared a cutback that was meant to reach Ogolla.Talanta centre-back Shela Mandela was lucky to survive a red card for a last-man challenge on Ogolla who was a thorn in the flesh of their backline. Instead, the burly center-back had his name taken by FIFA referee Brooks Philips.#FKFPL FT.Mathare United 2 – 1 Gor MahiaFC Talanta 2 – 1 Vihiga Bullets The real MUFC is back.#RadullKE #TalantaHela pic.twitter.com/1zvdvtB9Fs— Carol Radull (@CarolRadull) March 1, 2023 Both teams made changes shortly after the second half began, with Talanta throwing in two players while Vihiga brought in new signing Anthony ‘Balotieno’ Nyang’or.
