Philip Billing struck one of the fastest goals in Premier League history when AFC Bournemouth opened the scoring after just nine seconds against Arsenal. The Cherries broke down the right from kick-off and stunned the Emirates Stadium crowd with a cross that caught out the Arsenal defence for Billing to apply a simple finish.Opta, the Premier League’s official data supplier, timed the goal at 9.11 seconds. It is likely to be the second-fastest goal in Premier League history. It is over a second slower than Shane Long’s on 23 April 2019 for Southampton at Watford. That was timed at only 7.69 seconds from kick-off. It broke the record that defender Ledley King had held for nearly 19 years. The defender had scored after 9.82 seconds for Tottenham Hotspur at Bradford City in the 2000/01 season.
