Kariobangi Sharks deposited three more points in their FKF Premier League account after flooring KCB 2-1 at the Kasarani Annex on Sunday afternoon. The three points take Sharks to the top half of the table, much to the jubilation of coach William Muluya who lauded his boys for the spirited performance. “The first leg ended in a similar scoreline and it feels good that, we have emerged victorious in the second leg. We played well although we could have scored more goals,” he said. Muluya went on to stress on the need to tighten the loopholes in the defence. “We have been playing well but sadly, we keep conceding. It’s an area that, concerns me,” he added. As expected, Sharks took control of the game from onset, treating fans who had turned up to their usual style of play that entails, trading passes amongst themselves. Tyson Otieno would have broken the deadlock in the fifth minute after he was put through by Fortune Omoto but the former Mathare United attacker fired inches wide with the goalkeeper to beat. With the pressure mounting from Sharks, KCB boss instructed a number of players to proceed for the warm up in a bid to challenge those on the pitch to step up. Sharks, continued to enjoy dominance and asking questions in the bank that had its rear men work overtime, in an effort to fend up off the pressure. Otieno, made up for the chance he missed early in the game by setting up Julius Masaba who netted the opener in the 32nd minute after running behind his marker to tap in the low cross. KCB’s Erickson Mulu and John Mwangi gave the Sharks defence a little bit of work to do in the first half but their threat was not enough to poke holes and shoot past John Otieno. The half time pep talk KCB had was disoriented just five minutes after restart as a quick counterattack saw Sharks double their advantage through Fortune Omoto. Sharks centre back Collins Obanda collected the ball from his own half before feeding Moses Shikanda on the right wing, who in turn found the goal scorer who shot past Bryne Omondi unchallenged. KCB halved the deficit in the 70th minute through second half substitute Francis Kahiro who headed John Mwangi’s cross from close range. The goal injected some urgency in the KCB side as they knocked on the Sharks door but the former Cup winners held on the slim advantage up to the last minute.
