MCF FC head coach David Mahira is happy to have Machakos Stadium open again, saying it is a big boost for the Yatta-based side that have been forced to host their matches in Thika and Camp Toyoyo. On Wednesday, the stadium that at one point was a COVID-19 isolation center reopened as MCF hosted Shabana at the facility. The visitors picked up a 1-0 win courtesy of a Wycliffe Nthata first-half goal, a result that helped them open a seven-point gap at the top of the National Super League.##NAJAVA_MECA_7099810##Despite going down, Mahira had a lot to celebrate. He says the reopening of the facility gives his team a big boost as it puts an end to their long travels in search of a home ground. He also believes that it will help solidify their fan base.”We now have a home ground, and this is really a big boost for the team because we have really struggled in the last few years. I want to thank the county government of Machakos for reopening the stadium, and we believe this will play a big part in us registering positive results because we will have our fans cheering us once again,” he told Mozzart Sport.Reviewing the defeat to Shabana, the soft-spoken tactician rued the chances that they missed in the match but was encouraged by the team’s general attitude, particularly in the second stanza.”We had chances, but we did not utilize them. In the second half, we created so many chances, but we did not utilize them, and in the end, we lost. But there are a lot of positives to pick from the match. I saw commitment and fighting spirit that has been missing, and it is something we can work on; we have a few new players on board, and we believe they will make us better; we will have a better second leg,” he added.Next up for MCF is an away game against Gusii FC on Monday, March 20th.
