Sofapaka FC maintained their second leg unbeaten run after humbling the visiting Kakamega Homeboyz 3-1 in an entertaining FKFPL game played at the Kasarani Annex grounds on Thursday.Roddy Manga gave Sofapaka the lead inside the first three minutes of the game before Sunday Ikekhai made it 2-0 for the hosts early in the second half.Michael Karamor halved the deficit for Homeboyz with a 77th minute penalty but Simon Abuko extended the lead for Batoto Ba Mungu with an 80th minute penalty after Ben Stanley was hacked inside the box.##NAJAVA_MECA_7099810##The win takes Sofapaka upto 11th on the table standings with 25 points while Kakamega Homeboyz slumped to their third straight loss under coach Patrick Odhiambo and are now 10th with the same number of points as Sofapaka.Sofapaka were clearly the hungry side in the opening minutes of the game and they almost scored with the game’s first chance as Stephen Okola headed goalwards only to see his attempt go over the bar.The second Sofapaka attempt bore fruits – this time Ben Stanley finding space down the right to tee up Manga who finished with a sweeping move just inside the box.Nyakeya’s sole strike earns Ingwe maximum points at the expense of RangersThree minutes in, and Sofapaka were in cruise control, forcing the visitors to react quickly.Homeboyz thought they had scored in the seventeenth minute when Brian Chala blasted his shot into the net from a setpiece before being flagged offside in the buildup.Sofapaka then gave their response in the pulsating first half as long range attempts from Alex Imbusia and Evans Maliachi went begging.The former league winners would have made it 2-0 just before the break but Abuko drove his shot into the Homeboyz defense, forcing a corner that didn’t yield much.Kakamega Homeboyz began the second half strongly as Chala once again found a brilliant chance from a corner- heading his attempt into Simon Masaka.Bandari sink Mathare United to secure back to back winsSofapaka soon doubled the lead after 51 minutes as the exciting Ben Stanley found Sunday Ikekhai from a corner – the former converting just inside the front post.Karamor was at the backend of the next close chance for Homeboyz – his header expertly saved by Masaka in goal.Kenyan international Moses Mudavadi then hit the outside of the post with a right footed shot just outside the box in the 74th minute.The visitors found a route back into the game as Roy Okal was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box. Karamor took the resulting penalty, hitting it to the goalkeeper’s left to make it 2-1 after 77 minutes.The game took a turn minutes when Stanley was taken down inside the box in the 80th minute with referee Michael Obuya awarding the home side the rather deserved penalty.New acquisition Abuko stepped up and converted the resulting penalty- sending Wanzala to the opposite direction.The next 10 minutes saw Sofapaka stand their ground and defended brilliantly, closing down to secure their sixth win of the season.
