Harambee Stars’ new call up Alfred Scriven says he was surprised to get a call coach Engin Firat who offered him an opportunity to play for the Kenya national team. The 25-year old striker plies his trade in the Norwegian second-tier and is part of the Harambee Stars provisional squad that is in camp preparing to face Iran in an International friendly on March 28 in Terhan. “I was honestly caught by surprise. The coach sent me a message on Facebook and then called me on WhatsApp. He was straight to the point and asked me to join the National team.” Scriven says. The forward trained with his Kenyan mates for the first time today and he says so far he is happy.“It was long travel from Norway to Kenya so I had to rest first. The focus now is to adapt and get to know the people in camp. The boys have been good and very kind so far. The next step is to score the goals but I would say I am not a selfish striker, if someone else is in a better position to score I will always pass the ball,” he added. He brings in something that I am yet to see in the Kenyan league. The Kenyan league is very soft with almost every contact being given as a foul,” Firat said recently. More foreign-based players are expected to join the Harambee Stars camp tomorrow and the coming days.
