Harambee Stars and former Gor Mahia defender Frank Odhiambo has completed his long-speculated loan deal to Swedish third tier side Vasalunds IF till the end of the 2023 season, Djugardens IF Sporting Director confirmed on Monday.“Odhiambo participated in training in January, but since we went to training camp, he has continuously played matches with Vasalund. He will play in Division 1 North on loan this season,” Djugardens IF Sporting Director Bo Magnus Andersson said.##NAJAVA_MECA_7138729##The moves comes after Mozzart Sport on 14 March 2023 reported that the 20 year old defender was training with the Swedish Ettan side with the aim of sealing a loan move from the club he signed for in January 2022.Odhiambo has had a tough moment in his home club and has since not made an Allsvenskan debut – a situation that pushed him out on loan to IFK Haninge for the 2022 season.Odhiambo played for the third tier side in nine games last season before embarking on training with Vasalunds IF earlier this year.Firat pleads for patience as Harambee Stars return to action“I didn’t play much in the past season considering that I was new in the Swedish league and environment. I have adapted well and am looking forward to playing for the club consistently. My goal is to earn as many minutes as possible as this will go a long way in opening the door to my debut for the national team,” Odhiambo told Mozzart Sport in March. The loan move will now see the former Gor Mahia defender link up with fellow Kenyans Anthony Wambani and Mohammed Katana.Odhiambo, who has a running contract at Vasalunds IF till 2026, won the FKFPL player of the month in August 2022 and has featured for the Kenya U20 and U23 national teams.
