Muyela speaks on Kisumu All Stars debacle on management

Former FKF Premier League side Kisumu All Stars FC were on Wednesday 5th stranded in Nairobi after their 2-0 loss to Darajani Gogo Boys FC in Nairobi. Lacking fuel for their means of transport and the possibility of an evening meal, the Kisumu County-sponsored team appealed to fans on their social media handles to help the boys travel back to Kisumu. This was done in haste as many fans contributed to the club and aided the boys’ travel back home safely. Dismas Muyela Amunga, a long-serving member of the club, says it is not the first time the club finds itself in such a situation.##NAJAVA_MECA_7153429##‘’It may come as a surprise, but the county hasn’t been funding us since the season began for our away matches. Our club CEO, Mr Nicholas Ochieng, is the one who has done the most, mobilizing friends of the club to chip in whenever we need to travel,’’ reveals the midfielder. The club that sits 9th on the National Super League (NSL) table standings has in its ranks players who were with the team during their very brief spell in the Kenyan top flight in 2019. Amunga says grinding out results is not an issue considering how they have fared despite the financial strain so far.‘’Everyone works hard—the players, the technical bench, and even the CEO. When it comes to management, that’s where the problem starts. At some point, we don’t even know where we stand. Some of us who have been at the club for a little while haven’t seen a salary since July of last year. All this happens, and they expect good results from the team,”.”There are so many away matches this season where we travel at night and play on the day we arrive. In Mombasa, for example, we arrived on the day of the match after traveling that entire distance,’’ he adds.Tumemkunja samaki angali mbichi….FT: Darajani Gogo 2-0 Kisumu ALL STARS #wearedgfc #hiluhilu #playingforchange pic.twitter.com/6q9hP8Tz1i— Darajani Gogo Football Club (@Gogo_Boys_FC) April 5, 2023 The Andrew Aroka-coached side believes that the gap between them and second-place Mara Sugar is not that wide, and it’s something they can close in on very quickly should their welfare improve.‘’We now have found a winning touch for our home games, given the two big victories we recorded against table-toppers Shabana and Gusii FC. Even when we play away, we don’t post poor results. The loss to Gogo was only our second away from home, and you have to put into consideration the conditions under which we travel,’’ says the midfielder, who has turned out ten times this season, assisting three of the All Stars goals.Amunga, however, looks on the positive side given last evening’s happenings. Having seen how much support the team garnered from fans, he is grateful for the aid and promises that All Stars will repay in the way of better results in the future.‘’It was a huge relief to see many fans stand by us yesterday. We are grateful as All Stars, and I want them to know we got home safely. They sure have the team at heart, and we will repay their faith with good results. I urge them to continue supporting us,’’ he concludes. The team travels to Migori Youth FC on April 9th for their 15th match of the NSL campaign.
