Egyptian club fined by CAF for fielding an ineligible player in Confederation Cup matches

Egyptian side Future FC have been fined $10,000, the equivalent of Ksh 1,339,100, for fielding an ineligible player in Ahmed Refaat during three of their CAF Confederation Cup group matches played this year.Apart from the fine, the club has also forfeited the matches in which the player took part.CAF received complaints from Pyramids FC, ASFAR, and ASKO in relation to the participation of Future FC player Ahmed Refaat after he returned from a loan in UAE in January 2023.He played in the three matches as Future recorded two wins over AS FAR Rabat and Asko, and a loss against Pyramid FC, all matches played in Cairo on March 8, March 19, and April 2, 2023, respectively.##NAJAVA_MECA_7171904##In all three matches, he was introduced from the bench and went on to clock a total of 92 minutes.The CAF Disciplinary Board concluded that since the player was not re-registered on the CMS system, neither have any correspondence been sent to CAF asking for the re-registration of the player after his return from the loan in accordance with the Interclubs Regulations meaning that the player was ineligible to take part in any match after his return from loan to Future FC.”After having discussed the matter and deliberated, CAF Disciplinary Board decided to:1. Declare the player Ahmed Refaat as ineligible and consider the matches in which he took part as forfeited by Future FC.2.
