The Edward Waters women’s golf team is rolling.
The Players Championship presented the EWC program with a van on April 5 to travel to tournaments and practice sessions, two years after making a $50,000 grant to help reinstate women’s golf at the university.
Access to safe, reliable transportation had been an issue with the team. That’s no longer a problem with the 2023 Ford Transit 15-passenger van, which is detailed in EWU’s purple and orange.
“I’m very excited for the team to have consistent and reliable transportation,” coach Kerry Allen said. “Since I took over the program, getting to practice has been a struggle for us. I am extremely grateful that those days are behind us. This van is truly a game-changer for our program, and I cannot thank The Players enough for their continued support of the EWU women’s golf program.”
Located 30 minutes from the PGA Tour’s flagship property at the TPC Sawgrass, the state’s first private Historically Black College and University is one of only two HBCUs in Florida to offer a dedicated women’s golf program.
