Kenya Police have leaped into the top five of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League after humiliating Nairobi City Stars 4-2 at the Police Pavilion on Wednesday.A near flawless display and top marksmanship displayed in the second half was enough to diminish the roars from Simba wa Nairobi and subsequently, the law enforcers are back to winning ways.Prior to the game, Police had recorded three successive draws and were in desperate need of the three points in order to breath life in their slim hopes of, winning the league title. The loss on the other hand, complicate City Stars’ hopes of holding on their top flight status as they are still deep in the red zone.It was difficult to speculate that contest would produce two goals inside the opening twenty minutes as both teams took their sweet time to settle in.The sluggish start didn’t last long as Police broke the deadlock in the 14th minute through Derrick Otanga who poked the ball home from close range. The forward, evaded tackles from the duo of Dennis Wanjala and Kennedy Onyango to force the ball past Jacob Osano who had also joined his colleagues in a bid to, stop the goal scorer from accomplishing his mission. The lead did not stand for long as City Stars leveled matters in the 20th minute through Vincent Owino who struck from the spot after Police goalkeeper Job Ochieng hacked Kelvin Etemesi down a minute earlier.Ochieng, who was off his line, missed the ball and in the process, collided with Etemesi who would have tapped in the ball in an empty net.The goal is all what City Stars needed to trigger an improved display as the team, took control of the proceedings and created clear cut chances in the remainder of the half. The experience harboured by David ‘Cheche’ Ochieng and Harun Shakava came in play on a number of occasions as the two made timely interceptions and their instincts in erecting a foul proof offside trap was there for all to see.It took second half substitute Elvis Rupia three minutes on the pitch to regain the lead for Police after the City Stars defence gifted him an opportunity to score.Rupia who had come on for David Simiyu capitalized on poor communication between Wanjala and Salim Abdallah to tap the ball from close range. The two defenders will have themselves to blame for failing to agree on quickly on who would clear a loose ball to safety.Amidst their indecisiveness, Rupia reacted quickest and landed the tip of his boot on the ball that sailed past the line, beating Osano who attempted to stop it.City Stars attempt to reorganize themselves and claw back suffered a blow after another second half substitute in Clifton Miheso kissed the back of the net in his trademark after curling the ball to the farthest corner in the 62nd minute.Miheso, collected a long pass from Duke Abuya before beating his marker and unleashing a shot with his preferred left foot to give Police the third goal.City Stars situation went from bad to worse tw minutes after conceding the third goal after Onyango handled in the box forcing the centre referee to point to the spot.Rupia stepped up to send Osano the wrong way and consequently, sealed his brace as well as stretched the advantage in favour of the host team.Police dominated the game in the remaining minutes with City Stars responding by making changes that helped control the damage.Ezekiel Odera halved the deficit for City Stars deep into stoppage time but the seconds remaining of the clock were not enough to create room for what would have been a dramatic end.Elsewhere, a brace from Rodgers Ouma was enough to give Tusker a 2-0 win over Mathare United at Ruaraka grounds.
