Tusker FC Coach Robert Matano, has initiated legal action against AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems, demanding an apology for a defamatory statement made on Twitter. In a demand letter sent by his legal representatives, Wambilianga, Majani & Associates, Matano expressed that the statement made by Mr. Aussems has caused damage to his reputation as a highly respected coach in Kenya and East Africa. The incident occurred after the match between AFC Leopards and Tusker FC on April 9th, 2023.According to the demand letter, Mr. Aussems published a tweet that read, “Unfortunately we have been punished at last minute due to a lack of aggressiveness! Congrats to the players of Tusker. Of course I won’t talk about an old coach with no international experience who is more a djudju man than a tactician…one could learn!” The statement was deemed defamatory as it insinuated that Matano lacks knowledge of football and implied that he practices black magic.Matano’s legal representatives stated that the defamatory statement has caused him harm both professionally and personally. As a highly respected coach in Kenya and East Africa, Matano has a rich profile with numerous successes both as a footballer and a coach. He has won four Kenyan Premier League titles with Tusker FC and Sofapaka FC, coached in the Africa Champions League and CAF Competitions, and has been voted the best coach in Kenya on two occasions. In the demand letter, Wambilianga, Majani & Associates demanded an unconditional apology from Mr. Aussems within three days, and further requested that the apology be published on his Twitter page. If the apology is not received within the stipulated time, legal proceedings may be instituted for the recovery of compensation.Tactical Masterclass: How Francis Baraza’s backup plan led Kenya Police FC to a 4-2 victory against Nairobi City Stars##NAJAVA_MECA_7171552##Matano’s legal representatives also expect to receive a written proposal on the damages to be paid by Mr. Aussems within seven days of the receipt of the demand letter.Neither Matano nor Aussems has made any public statements regarding the matter at this time.Matano ameambia Belgian humor wasizoeane😂😂Imechemka! pic.twitter.com/oBuZqEDxmJ— Ochieng’ Stephen (@soo_ochieng) April 13, 2023
