Even thou they won comfortably against Chelsea 2-0 in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, Real Madrid players could hardly concentrate on their match against relegation strugglers Cadiz. If they did, they would break the home team much earlier and the game wouldn’t finish 2-0, but at least three goals more. Instead, they misfired until the 72nd minute, when defender Nacho scored a beauty from 18 meters for the lead, while Asensio made it 2-0 minutes later. Before that, Real had numerous chances, over 20 shots on goal, but they either missed completely, or Cadiz’s keeper Gil saved them all.Nacho Goal vs Cadiz 1-0|Real Madrid vs Cadiz 1-0|#realmadrid#CadizRealMadrid pic.twitter.com/B8nFuCZssU— GOAT ZONE (@SPORTSZONELV) April 15, 2023 David Gil is the club’s reserve keeper, but he had a monster game and saved seven shots, mostly from Rodrygo (3), but also from Asensio, Ceballlos and Vasquez. Even Karim Benzema, team’s leading scorer and a man who has eight goals in his last six games across all competitions couldn’t find a way to the net this time, but Nacho and Asensio eventually did. Without this win, Real were in danger of losing the second place, as Atletico Madrid is closing in after a superb display in the last month (five straight league wins). This was never going to be a game in which Cadiz would score a lot of goals, as the hosts have scored only 23 goals so far. In fact, their top scorer is still Lucas Perez (3 goals) and he left the club in January! They had two good chances from counter attack in the first, but were totally shut down by Real in the second half of the game. The goal threat was constant, but Gil made all the saved until Natcho’s monster strike broke the deadlock.LA LIGA – MATCHDAY 29FridayRayo Vallecano – Osasuna 2-1 (2-0)/Hernandez (og) 40, Palason 43 – Gomez 66/SaturdayVillareal – Valladolid (1-2 (0-2)/Capoue 74 – Amallah 2, El Yamik 34/Ath.Bilbao – Sociedad 2-0 (1-0)/I.
