Chapa Dimba na Safaricom set to return in May

The Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom grassroots tournament is set to resume next month.The resumption of the tournament which was cut short in 2020 at the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic follows successful talks between the telecommunications company and Football Kenya Federation (FKF).Ugandan keeper Benjamin Ochan seeks out of court settlement with AFC LeopardsA formal launch of the tournament is scheduled to be held on 29 April in Nairobi, Mozzart Sport has learned.“It is resuming from where it left from and everything has been agreed on. What is remaining is the launch and then we kick-off,” said one official who sought anonymity.This will be the third time Safaricom are sponsoring the tournament which has been highly popular at the grassroots.##NAJAVA_MECA_7183522##The first time was in 2016 and featured more than 1,000 teams.Before it was cut short by the pandemic, the top cream of the tournament were supposed to tour Spain getting mentorship from the best of the best in the La Liga.The ‘All Star’ team was scheduled to travel to Madrid for a 10-day long camp for the second consecutive year.Two Kenyan match officials in Cairo for Elite Referees’ courseApart from calling off the trip to Spain the regional finals for Nyanza and Western were also postponed.
