Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has labelled their Round 24 league clash against Posta Rangers as their poorest game of the season after the team threw away a two-goal advantage in the match played on Sunday afternoon at the Nyayo National Stadium.Having been gifted the cushion by Benson Omalla who bagged a first half brace to give the 19-time Kenyan champions the 2-0 lead at half time, a second half goal from Calvin Odongo and a Gad Mathew own goal right at the death saw the team fail to restore their four-point gap at the top of the table as they only sit now two points above Tusker who have a game in hand.Gor Mahia throw away two goal lead in frustrating draw against Posta RangersWhile making his assessment after the game, the Northern Irishman castigated his side for not being anywhere near their best throughout the entire game, allowing Posta to dominate them.“I am very disappointed but not hugely surprised. Even at half time when we led 2-0 I was not happy because the only reason we led was that Posta did not defend crosses very well and we have got a very clinical striker.Other than that, I thought we were very poor in the first half. We made a couple changes into the second half to try and rectify it but it really did not work. We never got into the game and Posta fully deserved to get a point. An own goal is a very gutting way to lose it but overall, we were way below our levels.FULL TIME: Gor Mahia 2 – 2 Posta Rangers We pick a point in this fixture. #Sirkal | #GorFansClub pic.twitter.com/veQhFc6hQv— GOR MAHIA FANS CLUB (@OfficialGMFC) April 16, 2023 We have played some excellent football recently against Vihiga Bullets, Kariobangi Sharks, Sofapaka and Bandari recently but today is definitely the poorest we have been in a couple of months. We were fortunate to be two goals ahead but the level of performance was way below where it needed to be at if we are going to do something this season,” the coach remarked. The coach was however quick to back his side to get back to their normal standards as he called on them to channel their frustrations from the match to improving themselves in their bid to fight for the title this season.##NAJAVA_MECA_7180196##“We have to get our levels high again. Everyone can have a bad day. It does not matter what industry you are working in, sometimes it is just not feeling right. We had such a day today and we can just go back and improve on it. The result from the game is frustrating but it gone now and we just have to use that frustration and put it in the quality of our work on the training pitch and to our next game,” he said. The team take on Kenya Police next Saturday at Kasarani Stadium.
