Vihiga Bullets coach admits survival fight is getting complicated

Vihiga Bullets FC head coach Milton Kidiga admits that beating the drop is now becoming a hard task after the latest setback, where they went down 5-2 to Nairobi City Stars at the Kasarani Annex on Sunday. The defeat to an equally drop-battling Simba wa Nairobi further dented their survival chances, and they are now 17 points off the playoff spot with ten matches left before the 2022–23 season concludes.##NAJAVA_MECA_7180192##Much of Vihiga’s problems stem from financial challenges. The club has found it difficult to honour away and home matches, and on a number of occasions, well-wishers have had to come to their aid after they got stuck in Nairobi after matches. After Sunday’s defeat, Kidiga does not see much light at the end of the tunnel anymore. He says conceding goals in the manner that they did against Nicholas Muyoti’s charges complicate their hopes of survival.”It becomes harder and harder if we lose points the way we did against Nairobi City Stars. We conceded five goals, which I believe could have been avoided had we played better defensively. The task gets harder by the day, but we have to keep believing, work hard, and most importantly, start winning matches consistently,” he told Mozzart Sport. He further delved into the financial challenges that the team is facing and admitted that it is taking a toll on his players.Vihiga Bullets F.C vs Kenya Police F.C Bukhungu Stadium 19th April, 2023 at 3.00pm Winning touch coming back. @betikaKe@748AirServices@DCI_Kenya#policingthroughsports#tuchezetujuane pic.twitter.com/77R1Qy62Gz— KENYA POLICE FC (@kenyapolicefc) April 18, 2023 “It is a challenge; we try to get positive results out of these players, but it is not easy,” he added.Asked if he could throw in the towel if the team’s fortunes do not change for the better, the former player maintained that he will stick with the club to the very end.”I can never run away; I will stick with the team to the very end. I will be here until the final game of the season, and I hope that we will have the means to honour all the matches this campaign and hopefully retain our top-flight status. I am not a coward, and I will keep working with the boys to improve them as individuals so that we can also improve as a team,” he added.Vihiga Bullets will play in a rescheduled league match on Wednesday afternoon at the Bukhungu Stadium.
