Kenya Police push Vihiga Bullets further towards relegation

Kenya Police bounced back from last weekend’s loss with a 4-0 mauling of Vihiga Bullets in a rescheduled FKF Premier League match that was staged at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County on Wednesday 19 April afternoon.Ahead of the game, both teams were seeking to bounce back from last weekend’s upset. Police went down 1-0 to Tusker FC, while the Bullets suffered a 5-2 hiding at the hands of Nairobi City Stars and were desperate to bounce back to try and delay what looks like an inevitable drop from the top tier.##NAJAVA_MECA_7190026##Duke Abuya opened the scoring for the law enforcers in the 14th minute. He was picked by a long ball from the back, and he flicked the ball over a Vihiga United defender before firing into the back of the net for a well-deserved lead.It was all Police after that early breakthrough as they knocked at the Bullets goal area in search of more goals. Elvis Rupia, Abuya, and David Okoth all came close to adding more, but their lack of composure in prime position saw them throw away good chances. The second goal finally arrived in the 38th minute. Okoth played a short corner to Baraka Badi who delivered a cross into the area for an easy Francis Kahata tap-in. The law enforcement officers took a 2-0 lead to the break, although on another day the margin would have been bigger.Bidco United coach challenges charges to rise from the ashesPolice FC coach Francis made three changes before the restart. Captain Musa Mohamed, Marvin Nabwire and Okoth were rested for Derrick Otanga, Alvin Mang’eni and Harun Shakava.Police continued to run the show but the opportunities were few apart as the hosts did better defensively and going forward they equally looked better. The third goal did finally through Mang’eni in the 78th minute who rattled the roof of the net after being set up by Abuya. Rupia then completed the rout deep into stoppage time.Police remain fifth in the log with 43 points, ten shy of Gor Mahia whom they face on Saturday. With five points, Bullets remain rooted to the bottom of the log. Their next assignment is against the next town neighbours Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday as well.##EDITORS_CHOICE##
