Unfair! AFC Leopards contest ruling by FKF

Former champions AFC Leopards have poked holes into the ruling delivered by the Football Kenya Federation Leagues and Competitions Committee regarding the abandoned Ingo Derby. The Committee on Wednesday, faulted Leopards for causing chaos that led to the match to be halted midway after the acts of hooliganism made the environment unsafe. The Committee imposed financial and other sanctions on Leopards while Homeboyz, who were the host were cleared of any blame.##NAJAVA_MECA_7190470##In response to the heavy sanctions imposed on the club, Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda, without mincing his words, said the move by the committee was unfair and against the spirit of fair play in the game.”AFC Leopards feels that FKF decision was unfair, and against the spirit of fair play in football,” said Shikanda. “As football club, we have always prioritised fair play and sportsmanship. We expect a fair and impartial hearing when team’s interests are at stake, and we believe that the decision of the FKF League and Competitions Committee in this case has failed to meet these expectations,” he added.Currently ongoing: Ingwe press conference – “There was a hearing by the committee, we presented evidence highlighting poor security arrangements & biased offociating. The FKF decision was unfair & against the spirit of fair play in football.” – AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda pic.twitter.com/GVK8sChd2E— Mozzart Sport Kenya (@MozzartSportKe) April 20, 2023 In defending the club, Shikanda laid the blame on the door of Homeboyz for failing to provide adequate security and further, went on to tear on centre referee Michael Obuya whom he labelled as incompetent.Shikanda, sensationally claimed that he spotted a paltry eight uniformed officers on the ground, a number he feels was not enough to handle the thousands of fans who turned up.Homeboyz team manager Boniface Imbenzi, earlier on, revealed that thirty uniformed police officers were availed for the match. He said all the three gates that were opened to allow fans access the stadium were manned by officers so are the stands, zone one and other sections of the stadium.AFC Leopards docked points, hit with massive fine following Homeboyz game debacle”Homeboyz did not provide enough security. We have played them before in high stake matches and chairs were not reported. Regarding last weekend’s match, they failed in their mandate. The referee was also biased,” he said.
