Mathare United interim head coach Samuel Koko admits it has been a tough run-in for his side that has seen them lose their last three games in the FKF Premier League and drop into the bottom three places on the log.A powerful run that started off his tenure at the club – four wins in six- has suddenly gone in the opposite direction – five losses in six- and the stand-in tactician is ready to right those wrongs when the team takes on Posta Rangers on Saturday afternoon.##NAJAVA_MECA_7190470##“We have no option but to come back from our setbacks,” Koko told Mozzart Sport on Friday. “It has been a disappointing run and not just because we lost but because we didn’t deserve to. That must change on Saturday.”Going back to the past week’s defeat to Tusker and Nzoia Sugar -teams on the opposite end of the table and gunning for the title- Koko said that his team gave a brave go but missed out on important basics that he has emphasized on all week in preparation for the Posta Rangers game.“I have stressed on closing on players, especially on setpieces and being active because that’s where teams, especially Nzoia have caught us out this season,” Koko said. “That plus the fact that we have not scored in three means our attacking drills have gone up and I have been pushing the boys to create more and make sure that we win.”Tomorrow we go again against @PostaRangersFC Mungu tujalie💛💛 pic.twitter.com/dUJHk4G3SU— Daniel Otieno Okoth (@DanielOtieno_9) April 21, 2023 Finding themselves in a position he has dreaded all season, Koko believes Saturday’s game at the Ruaraka Stadium will provide a launching pad for the team to move past their nearest opponents on their way to a good run that will secure safety for the Slum Boys.“No offense but I don’t think those behind us are catching up,” Koko said. “Our focus is on teams directly above us and it only takes a few wins and draws to move past them. All we need is to start making a run. Then, we will be back to where I want us to be.”On the persistent question about team rotations, Koko insisted that he is ‘managing the energy levels of every player’ just to make sure that they are on top of their game plus, fixing the team when need be.Shabana open seven-point gap at the top“All our players need minutes and if I feel the trajectory isn’t great, I have to ring the changes,” the former goalkeeping coach said.Saturday’s game against Posta Rangers kicks off at 1500 EAT.
