Rivals’ switch: Pochettino to Chelsea, Nagelsmann to Spurs?

Back in 2019, Tottenham failed to win any trophy (as usual), but still had hope as they managed to get to the Champions League final, where they lost to Liverpool. That year, the Spurs were playing fantastic, finished second to Barcelona in the group stage before eliminating Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax on their way to the finals. Their coach was Mauricio Pochettino, who spent five seasons at the club and is fondly remembered by the fans. But, as the English press is reporting, they are about to be unpleasantly surprised to hear that their beloved Argentinian is about to accept Chelsea’s job.🚨🚨 Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly tempted by the opportunity to manage Tottenham next season.[via @DailyMailUK] pic.twitter.com/zkWlnsrQy1— hotspurreport (@hotspurreports) April 24, 2023 Nagelsmann after watching that#NEWTOT #Spurs #Tottenham pic.twitter.com/qQyGKNpdaR— Why Tottenham? (@I_Hate_Arsenal) April 23, 2023 Guardian and Daily Mail are writing that mainly due to Julian Nagelsmann’s decision to reject Chelsea post, Pochettino has a clear road to the Blues dugout. After sacking Graham Potter, a Chelsea quartet of two co-owners (Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali) and two co-sporting directors (Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart,) first installed Frank Lampard as the interim manager (0-4 score so far) and then started the search for a new coach. After making a short list of seven names, they narrowed it down to four: Julian Naglesmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Vincent Company and Luis Enrique. The Spaniard is no longer in the running, while the German was surprised to hear that the recruitment process is still running and that his job application is not a formality, so he pulled out.Nagelsmann out, three more gaffers still in contention for the Chelsea dugoutThe other surprise is that after Conte failure, Pochettino was not mentioned as a candidate to be new/old Tottenham coach, considering his successful past in North London. But now Julian Naglesmann could yet return to London, but this time to take over the Spurs. Vincent Company is still the bookies favorite, but after his Chelse rejection, former Bayern Munich coach is in the second place now, with Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter and Arne Slot in the mix. Chairman Daniel Levy is now pressured to make a proper appointment, especially after humiliation in Newcastle, where the Magpies, their direct rival for the Champions League spot thrashed them 6-1.##NAJAVA_MECA_7198480##
