The 2023 CECAFA U-23 Championship will be held in Ethiopia, the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has confirmed following a meeting held earlier this week.Ethiopia will be hosting the tournament for a consecutive time having done so during the last edition in 2021.In 2021, Tanzania beat Burundi in the final in post-match penalties after playing to a barren draw in regular time.##NAJAVA_MECA_7209172##CECAFA Executive Director Auka Gecheo confirmed the decision during the meeting with the General Secretaries of the different Member Associations across the region.“We are happy that Ethiopia will once again host the U-23 Championship like they did in 2021,” Gecheo said as quoted on CECAFAonline.According to Ethiopia Football Federation’s General Secretary Bahiru Tilahun, they are all set to hold the zonal event starting in late July through to August in Addis Ababa.In the same meeting held on Tuesday, it was agreed that the CECAFA zone CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers will be held in Uganda from 12 August to 26 August 2023 while the CECAFA U-15 Boys Championship will take place from 4 November to 18 November 2023 in the same country.##NAJAVA_MECA_29502##Kenya will host the CECAFA U-18 Championship for both boys and girls, with the girls’ event coming first from 3 June to 17 June 2023 while the boys’ competition will be played from 26 November to 9 December 2023.Further, it was agreed that with the current political situation in Sudan, an alternate standby host is identified for the CECAFA Kagame Super Cup 2023 that Sudan had been awarded with Tanzania and Kenya confirming their interest.
