Barcelona is urged to sell players and get the biggest spenders off the wage bill to appease the Spanish football authorities – and Wolverhampton Wanderers are unexpectedly come up with an offer to help the Catalans along the way. According to Relevo, the English club has made an offer of $30 million plus Ruben Neves for young forward Ansu Fati.Football agent Jorge Mendes, who represents some of the game’s biggest stars, spent 48 hours in Barcelona to find a solution of his client Ansu Fati’s lack of game time and the prospect of getting Portuguese star Ruben Neves from Molineux to Camp Nou.Jorge Mendes has discussed a potential swap deal between Wolves & Barcelona for Ansu Fati & Ruben Neves. This deal would consist of #Wolves giving the Spanish club Neves plus cash for Fati. As it stands Ansu Fati would like to stay at Barcelona.📰 @MatteMoretto #WWFC pic.twitter.com/hSSCR5nkxz— Talking Wolves (@TalkingWolves) May 4, 2023 Mendes has been offering Neves to the Catalans for a few months now – and crucially, Wolverhampton directors have accepted that they won’t be able to keep their captain and best player much longer. In order to convince Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, Mendes has offered to get Ansu Fati off Barca’s wage bill in the process.Without getting into too many details, the deal could benefit Barcelona more if the “official” value of players is higher. However, artificially inflating players’ values only leads to further FFP problems – as Juventus expected earlier in the season. And although Juventus have in the meantime, escaped punishment, it’s a tricky tactic to use in the transfer market. Barcelona has to take the sporting parameters in consideration as well. The first, and the most obvious, is that Ansu Fati is reluctant to give up on his Barcelona dream and the label of the “new Messi” in favour of a move to central England. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7226289##In the “good old days”, Barcelona would probably laugh away the idea of giving up one of their brightest young prospects and replacing him with a 26-year-old Wolverhampton player. However, in their current financial situation, certain standards have to be lowered at least a little. The Catalans must not allow another poor showing and an early elimination in the UEFA Champions League next season – and to be able to compete with top teams, they will have to rely on more experienced players. Neves’ leadership qualities and high work rate might be just what Xavi needs to build a team in the midst of the legal battles, crippled finances and ever-high supporters’ expectations.
