AFC Leopards have got a temporary reprieve against a ruling by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) League and Competitions Committee banning their fans from attending the next four matches over crowd trouble.The federation’s appeals committee in a ruling late Thursday night allowed the club to admit fans during Sunday’s match against Nzoia Sugar at Nyayo Stadium.CLUB UPDATE The ruling by the FKF Leagues and Competition Committe that banned fans from attending our home matches has been suspended, this allows our fans to attend our next match vs Nzoia Sugar on 7th May 2023.😊😊😊 Wakuu si tupatane Nyayo Stadium weekend #OursForever pic.twitter.com/5Tadm4RhEQ— AFC Leopards SC (@AFCLeopards) May 4, 2023 The committee chaired by Janet Katisya in coming up with the decision, said it had reviewed the ruling of the FKF League and Competitions Committee ruling dated April 18,2023, Notice of Motion dated May 2,2023 and Supplementary affidavit of AFC Leopards club chairman Dan Shikanda dated May 2023.“After reviewing the above, the application is certified as urgent considering that the next match by the Appellant is on May 7,2023.“The ruling of the LCC “That AFC Leopards SC shall play their next four (4) home FKF-PL matches behind closed doors. The club shall ensure this is adhered to” be partially suspended to the following effect;“That there shall be a partial stay of enforcement of the LLC Ruling on playing behind closed doors for four (4) home FKF-PL with regard to Game Number 253 on 7th May 2023 pending the outcome of this Appeal,” said the ruling.##NAJAVA_MECA_7230506##The reprieve is only for Sunday’s match as the rest of the ruling by the League and Competitions Committee remains in force pending the determination of the Appeal.Immediately after the ruling the club took to its social media platform to inform fans to turn up for Sunday’s match against Nzoia at Nyayo Stadium.Apart from the ban on fans, Leopards were also fined Sh.500,000 and docked three points from what they had already accumulated previously. However, AFC Leopards SC has been docked a further three (3) points from the already accumulated points,” read the letter released signed by FKF CEO Barry Otieno.FKF further ordered Leopards to carter or refund for incurred medical costs by center referee Michael Obuya after he was assaulted by the fans.Angry Leopard’s fans attacked the center referee accusing him of failing to send off Homeboyz goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo for allegedly handling the ball outside the box.
