‘I’ll blow your head off’: ‘Former Liverpool teammates in a taisty row

They were teammates in Liverpool for two seasons, and there were teammates in the Spanish national squad, they won two European championships and one World Cup, but they still argued, and it almost came to blows. Years after their retirement, Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbeloa made the headlines in Spain and England again, this time for all the wrong reasons. Former Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid players were on the opposite side again, this time as youth team coaches and they gave a bad example to their young players by clashing on the sideline and getting punished by the referee.Former Liverpool teammates Fernando Torres and Alvaro Arbela managed against each other today. Torres got sent off for telling Arbeloa: “I’ll blow your head off.” [@relevo] pic.twitter.com/8Ofy18i6qT— The Anfield Talk (@TheAnfieldTalk) May 14, 2023 After finishing their respectable careers, both players, who played together in Liverpool for two years (2007-2009) under Rafa Benitez became coaches and faced each other yesterday in the U19 Champions Cup quarterfinals. This was the second leg as Real won the first game 2-0, and the incident happened when the score was 2-2 (Atletico led 2-0). After a flare-up on the pitch, former defender Arbeloa approached Torres, clearly angry and gesticulating. But the former Atletico striker, who gained a serious number of kilos recently (all in muscles), shoved Arbeloa, saying, ‘I’ll blow your head off’, to which Arbeloa replied, “’Start whenever you want’, before the two men were separated. Real’s coach got the yellow card, while Torres got the red one. As he was leaving, he confronted Real’s fans and shouted to one of them, “Come there now, clown”.🇪🇸😯 Firey game as Arbeloa’s Real Madrid faced Fernando Torres’ Atléti side in a youth match! It was 0-0 in the first match and 5-0 for Real (Arbeloa) in the second game, and with the result being 2-2 after leading 2-0, Torres was clearly too nervous and reacted badly. The game finished 2-2, and Real progressed on a 4-2 aggregate.Bellamy-Riise golf club incident and the day when Rafa was furiousMaybe this outburst also has something to do with a newly started ‘war’ between the two clubs. For more than 15 years, two Madrid clubs had a ‘non-aggression’ pact which Real broke in 2022 when they ‘stole’ Jesus Fortea, a very promising under-16s right-back from Atletico’s academy, as well as Ariel Nkoghe (16).  Then they continued to ‘steal’ other youngsters, while Atletico tried to do the same but failed so far. But, last season, Cholo Simeone’s team refused to give Real a guard of honour ahead of their match. Ancelotti’s team became La Liga champions some time before the game, but Atletico replied to the proposition: “We will not collaborate in this attempt of mockery”. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7252346##
