Tusker FC forward Mike Oduor has issued a heartfelt challenge to fellow footballers, calling on them to lend their support to vulnerable communities whenever possible. This call to action comes after Oduor’s outstanding performance in the Mozzart Bet Cup quarterfinal match on Saturday, April 29th, where he was crowned the Man of the Match as Tusker triumphed over his former club, KCB. In recognition of this achievement, Oduor received a prize of Ksh 100,000.True to his words, Mike Oduor promptly put his money where his mouth is. On Monday, May 15th, accompanied by Tusker FC Assistant Coach George Maina and Mozzart staff, Oduor visited the Grace Chapel Children’s Home in Huruma. There, he generously donated essential food items and other necessities to support the children residing in the home. Expressing his joy, Oduor emphasized the importance of footballers being role models for kids in their communities. He passionately urged his peers to follow suit and extend a helping hand whenever possible.“I am very happy to give back to the kids at Grace Chapel and I urge other players who can to do so. These kids in our communities look up to us and it is therefore important to be there for them,” he said,“I would also wish to thank Mozzart for sponsoring the Domestic Cup and accompanying them to Huruma to gift these kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. It wouldn’t have been possible without them,” he added. Gratitude poured in from Gloria Ndunge, the Founder of the Children’s Home. She acknowledged the immense impact of such donations, explaining that the home currently cares for 87 children, 23 of whom are in high school. Sustaining their education and providing for their needs is an uphill task, making contributions like Oduor’s and Mozzart’s invaluable. Ndunge extended her heartfelt thanks to both Mike and Mozzart for their meaningful gesture.“We have 87 children that we are taking care of and 23 of them are in High School. It is really hard to sustain them in school and in this center and therefore such donations make a huge difference. We are very grateful to Mike and Mozzart for this.” She said. Cyprian Aluda, Mozzart’s Community Manager, reiterated the organization’s unwavering commitment to supporting Kenyan communities. Aluda expressed excitement at accompanying Mike Oduor to Huruma and emphasized that all their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are aimed at assisting underprivileged members of society. Aluda also highlighted a similar recent initiative, where Boniface Muchiri was accompanied to Mukuru Kwa Rueben for a noble cause. These initiatives hold significant importance to Mozzart as they strive to uplift disadvantaged communities across Kenya.
