CAFCC: Yanga’s Bernard Morrison denied entry into SA, again, ahead of crucial semifinal clash

Ghanaian international Bernard Morrison will not be able to play any part in Yanga’s crucial second leg encounter against Marumo Gallants in the semifinals of the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup.This is after the former Orlando Pirates midfielder was denied entry into South Africa where the second leg do or die clash is set to take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Wednesday evening.Back in 2018, Morrison was prohibited from returning to the country after contravening immigration rules as he overstayed his visa by two months after its expiration.𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛🔰⚽️ Marumo Gallants🆚Young Africans SC🗓 17.05.2023⏱ Saa 12 Jioni🇿🇦 | Saa 1 Usiku 🇹🇿🏟 Uwanja wa Royal Bafokeng 🏆 #CAFCC#TimuYaWananchi #DaimaMbeleNyumaMwiko pic.twitter.com/84DvRvSNiT— Young Africans SC (@yangasc1935) May 16, 2023 “Morrison was banned for five years. We consulted the embassy and tried everything with no success. Yes, he will miss the match against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday,” Yanga President Hersi Said confirmed to South African publication KickOff.This Is not the first time the midfielder is being denied entry into South Africa. Back in April 2022, while still playing for Simba, the influential attacking midfielder was not allowed to travel into the country for the game against his former side in the quarter finals of the Confederation Cup.The year before, the player, who is not new to controversy, was blocked from gaining entry to South Africa when Wekundu wa Msimbazi had travelled to face Kaizer Chiefs.##NAJAVA_MECA_7264764##Coincidentally, Yanga head into the return clash with a 2-0 advantage courtesy of goals by Stephane Aziz Ki and Morrison and will be looking to get the job done as they look to make it to their maiden Confederation Cup final.“We are very much aware of the advantage that we have right now but our focus is on the game that we are yet to play because in football anything can change quickly. We are putting the advantage behind us because we know the quality of the opponents and we respect them. We will make sure that we start afresh and put last week’s game behind us,” said Yanga head coach Nasreddine Nabi.Set your alarm for the #TotalEnergiesCAFCC semi-finals 2nd leg!
