Gaspo Football Club recently declared that they will not honor their last Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League (FKFWPL) game against already declared champions Vihiga Queens FC set for Sunday. Contacted by Mozzart Sport for comment, the team’s manager Edward Githua declined to divulge any reasons.”We decided to inform the federation (Football Kenya Federation, FKF) and the opponent well ahead of time and they have a letter detailing our reasons,” Githua said. “If they had anything planned for Vihiga Queens’ coronation during the match, we had no such information and if anything, they have enough notice to change their plans,” he added. ##NAJAVA_MECA_7277174##Yet, Mozzart Sport can now reveal that Gaspo are unhappy that they will not receive any reward for finishing second in the league.”It’s not about being undisciplined, far from it, but we’re asking the federation, what will we get for hosting and honoring the match?” an official of the club anonymously told Mozzart Sport. “We contacted the federation (FKF) and they told us that we will not receive anything, only the winner (Vihiga Queens) will be awarded on the day,” the source added. Gaspo withdraws from season finale against Champions Vihiga QueensGaspo felt that it would not only be wasteful, but also unfair for them to organize the game as hosts, pay for all match day costs, and despite finishing second, walk home empty handed.”There’s a wrong notion that Gaspo has money, it’s not true, we’re struggling just like all other teams. Having a bus, which was a donation, does not mean we’re rich.”They wonder why they will not be appreciated this time yet they received Ksh 150,000 last season when they also finished second in the league which Thika Queens FC won then.
