Kakamega Homeboyz forward Moses Shumah was going about his business on Monday evening when a unexpected call from his friend Hillary Ndombi came in.Ndombi, a midfielder who plies his trade with Vihiga Bullets had reached out to Shumah to congratulate him for landing his first ever Harambee Stars call up. Unbeknown to Ndombi, the call would break the good news to Shumah who was not even aware that he had been included in the national team and was looking forward to having a good evening. Shumah, first, brushed off the news from his friend as a prank as he wasn’t anticipating to be incorporated in the team since he was in his first season in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League among other reasons. Before he could log into his social media accounts and the FKF website to confirm the news from Ndombi calls and congratulatory messages from his colleagues at Homeboyz interrupted the session and eliminated the doubts in his friend. “I had no idea that I had been included in the Harambee Stars provisional team until Ndombi called me. At first, I didn’t believe him at all. However calls from my colleagues erased the doubts. I later confirmed it on the FKF portal,” he narrated. For a forward who joined Homeboyz before the season began and having four goals and an assist to show for in the season, expecting a call up to the national team was the least he expected. ” I never saw it coming this soon but I had the believe that one day I will make it,” he added. 1)Last weekend I watched a league match between Kenya Police and Kakamega Homeboyz from the stands.
