Nzoia Sugar FC chairman Evans Kadenge says this season has been successful for his team even if they fail to clinch the league title, with everything pointing at either Tusker or Gor Mahia lifting it.The Millers are currently third in the log, five points off leaders Tusker FC, with just nine points left to play for. They trail second-place Gor Mahia by four points.##NAJAVA_MECA_30716##The Bungoma-based side, to many, has been the surprise package this campaign. Last season, they fought relegation throughout the campaign before narrowly retaining their top-flight status in a season that was later nullified by FKF after they got reinstated. This season has been totally different for them, and at some point they sat at the helm of the ship. Last weekend’s loss to the Kariobangi Sharks in Bungoma dealt their title hopes a massive blow, but Kadenge believes that they have already overachieved.”This has been an exceptional season for us,” he told Mozzart Sport. “We obviously still dream of lifting the title, but even if we do not manage to, it will still be a success for us because, as everyone remembers, last season we were battling the drop and a few months later we remain in contention for the title with three matches, which is a success story,” he added. He reserved some praise for the entire team for remaining steadfast in a season in which the team faced serious financial challenges owing to the struggles its parent company, Nzoia Sugar, is going through.”I want to commend coach Salim Babu and the rest of the technical team members, the players, and everyone that has played a part in the team’s good run. We’ve had so many off-pitch challenges, but it did not affect our performance on it. The players have been brave in each and every game, and each one of them deserves a pat on the back.”Despite the odds being against his team, he remains positive that they could just clinch the title.McKinstry decries two red card moments that could have changed Tusker vs Gor Mahia clash”We remain focused for the remaining three games and try to win them all. In football, strange things happen; we could end the season as champions, and so we have to do whatever is within our abilities and let what’s beyond us take care of itself.” He added.
