A serious injury, back to back dislocations and questions if he could ever return to form crossed Naivas FC striker Ken Mutembei’s mind.Spotted from the National School ball games by the then Naivas FC head coach Joseph Irungu, Mutembei had a promising first stint – banging 13 goals in his first 15 games in the FKF, Premier League 2017/2018 season.##NAJAVA_MECA_7292188##It was due to this brilliant performance that Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo signed the attacker on loan at Posta Rangers, a place he could later spend three years before moving to FC Talanta, leading it to gaining promotion to the FKF Premier League.Excited with the career moves, Mutembei had high plans for his career, only for a serious injury, followed by months of painful rehabs and setbacks.It was during a game in the 2019/2020 season, then a member of Posta Rangers, that Mutembei suffered a knee injury and had to be sent back to his parents club Naivas FC. The end result was a dislocated patella and a chipped bone on the knee that meant he was to be on the sidelines for one year.

Mutembei fully returned to the game he loved in the 2021/2022 season, only for him to suffer a hand fracture and a dislocation on his right hand. Ken was sidelined for 6 months this time under Coach John Maina .At the start of the current season 2022/2023 ,the speedy attacker got a setback in his recovery journey and could only be available for the second phase of National Super League.Mutembei, currently on pace to set career best offensive numbers has been a welcome addition to Elvis Ayani Naivas FC squad challenging for FKF Premier League promotion.Kick-off date for 2023/2024 season tentatively set”He has fit well with our team since his return,” said Naivas gaffer Ayani. “We have added another player that has an extremely good work ethic. He is like a new signing and loves scoring goals which he is really good at.” Mutembei is thrilled to be back in his happy place banging in goals and creating chances this season as he hopes for a move in the next transfer window. His contract with the business moguls owned club comes to the end at completion of the current season.The forward has netted seven goals in five games , assisting twice since his return to the squad.
