“We have to be mentally prepared,” – Mieno tasks teammates to show calm against Wazito

It is not beyond Tusker FC skipper Humphrey Mieno’s assessment that Sunday’s game against Wazito on the road at Muhoroni will be ‘a tough match’ as he, on Saturday afternoon, asked his teammates to be on top of their game when the two clash on Sunday.“I think this game will be more about the mentality we have as a team,” Mieno told Tusker TV as the team embarked on their second day of light training at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu. “Its an important match for both teams. They [Wazito] are fighting to stay in the league and we want to defend our title.”🗣️ Captain Humphrey Mieno speaks ahead of tomorrow’s match.#KenyaMilele #Brewers4Life pic.twitter.com/AEjaAJODYP— 🏆Tusker FC (@tusker_fc) June 3, 2023 As the league enters its crucial stage, Tusker are well aware that any misstep in their run-in – that includes Wazito, Posta Rangers, and Vihiga Bullets – will be punished by second-placed Gor Mahia who are only a point behind the Brewers.“From my assessment, the morale is very high,” the former Gor Mahia player said. “The lads are looking forward to this match because we know its importance. We are in a good space.”If anything, a trip to the Muhoroni Stadium is one Mieno hopes that his team will be prepared for saying; “I just urge everyone to be prepared for this game and be mentally ready. We are going to have maybe, I am not so sure but we might encounter a hostile environment and so I think if we are mentally strong, we can win this match.”##NAJAVA_MECA_7299373##Mieno’s comments come at the back of those made by Wazito Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Collince Dave to Mozzart Sport on Friday when he said; “Tusker should not come here expecting easy points. We are going to win for ourselves and Gor Mahia. As you know Wazito and Gor Mahia share fans. We will do it for them also.”At the same time, Gor Mahia will be taking on Ulinzi Stars in a tasty tie at the Nyayo National Stadium and playing for a chance to retake the lead on top should Tusker stumble.Wazito fire early warning to Tusker, vow to help Gor Mahia in Muhoroni cauldronGor Mahia last month were held by Wazito at the Muhoroni Grounds and the message from Tusker head coach Robert Matano couldn’t be more assertive.“We are not coming to sit back and watch them play, we are also coming to play and win.”
