Nzoia Sugar’s Salim Babu, Nairobi City Star’s Nicholas Muyoti, and Mathare United’s Collins ‘Korea’ Omondi are among the 25 coaches who started their CAF B coaching license course at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) on Monday 5 June 2023.Apart from the three head coaches in the top flight, Harambee Starlets assistant coach Mildred Cheche, Mathare United Ladies coach Ann Aluoch, and former Mathare United coach Boniface Omondi are other names in the current cohort.Experienced FIFA instructors Salim Ali and Leonard Odipo will take charge of the course which is set to run for four months.##NAJAVA_MECA_7303715##According to Muyoti, the knowledge that they hope to gain from the current course will help the coaches improve coaching techniques to deliver quality and exciting football at the elite level.“Football is changing, and I believe with these courses we are able to improve on how we are going to coach our players to make sure at the elite level our fans are seeing good football,” the Simba wa Nairobi tactician opined.Speaking during the opening event, FKF president Nick Mwendwa emphasized the significance of these coaching courses for the development of football in the country and highlighted the positive impact they have on talent identification and the overall growth of the game, benefiting leagues such as the FKF Premier League and FKF National Super League.”There is an immeasurable impact brought by these coaching courses. Coaches in the FKF Premier League, FKF National Super League, etc, have been able to go through these courses and through it, we are able to scout better football talent and bring an overall growth of the game in the country,” Mwendwa said.Bwire ready for Stars challenge after reinstatement to provisional squadFurther, the FKF boss went on to reveal that there will be a CAF A License course later in the year, as well as a refresher course in the same category.”We will have a refresher course for CAF A this year and later on we will have the main CAF A License course that will take one year from October 2023 to October 2024. For any coach to coach at CAF level, in the CAF Champions League, and CAF Confederation Cup they must be CAF A license holders and we are moving to a point where we will have enough coaches in the country who can be CAF A holders,” Mwendwa added.
