Sport CS Ababu Namwamba has degazetted the Talanta Hela program council and technical committees on the day that the program was set to be launched at the statehouse in Nairobi.The CS established two committees in February through a gazette notice whose mandate was to lead in the identification and nurturing of talents across all 47 counties.##NAJAVA_MECA_7312402##The two committees were the sports and creative technical committees.The Creative Technical Committee, as chaired by comedian Daniel ‘ Churchill’ Ndambuki, consists of Akinyi Odongo, Jimmi Gathu, Catherine Kamau, Esther Akoth, Kizito Makhande, Azziad Nasenya, Rosemary Wahu Kagwi, Awadhi Salim Awadhi, Douglas Kipkirui, and Langat Susan Ekasiba.The council had Dennis Itumbi, Kizito Wangalwa, David Langat, Debra Mallowah, Abraham Kipyego Mutai, Charles Gacheru, Claudia Naisabwa Leshomoo, Nobert Ouma, and June Chepkemei.While the Sports Technical Committee, chaired by Carol Radul, consisted of Boniface Ambani, Julius Kiplagat Yego, Neddy Kutsuru, Alfred Makotsi, Sammy Tiyoi Shollei, Collins Kale, Kevin Mutai, Shilovelo Winna Shilavula, Daniel Nakeor Losiru, and Staicy Shariffa Ochieng.CS @AbabuNamwamba disbands the Talanta Hela technical committee. pic.twitter.com/76diiX2Wc2— Ahmed Mohamed ((ASMALi)) (@Asmali77) June 9, 2023 In another gazette notice dated June 7, the CS degazetted the two committees and the council. “It is notified for the general information of the public that the cabinet secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Art has revoked gazette notice no. 1469 of 2023,”. This comes at a time when there is a case in court challenging the legality of the committee. The cause was filed by lawyer Charles Mugane, who argued that the body was not legally established and that the appointments were not made as per the law.
