Bad Guy from Marseille in Hot Naples: It’s a crime film we’d like to watch

Christophe Galtier has one of those faces you’d expect to see playing the bad guy in a crime movie from the golden era in the 1970s. It’s how he looks, and it’s how he talks. It’s also how he walks when he puts on his long coat. If there is a man in Europe who recognises the kind of face which would look good on the silver screen – it’s the film producer and Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.Galtier, a man from the French port of Marseille, is the number one candidate to go into another big European port of Naples and take over as head coach of Napoli. It’s like a premise of a thriller. The guy with a serious face and a long coat, going from one port to another to engage in a dirty mission.Dirty? Yes.🔴 Breaking: Christophe Galtier in pole to take the Napoli job! @DiMarzio 🤔 pic.twitter.com/FPd8ObVZ5z— SSC Napoli Club Nigeria 🇳🇬 🥇🏆 🏆 🏆 (@SSCNapoliNGA) June 13, 2023 Napoli won their first Scudetto in over three decades and turned the city of Naples into a big party zone. But as soon as the music and the fireworks went quiet, the news of the title-winning coach Luciano Spalletti put the club at yet another crossroads. What is the next step? In which direction would the champions of Italy move? Is the fine team with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Zambo Anguissa doomed to rule for only a year? All those questions are to be answered over the next few weeks. If Galtier is to take on the job, he would request reassurances from De Laurentiis regarding the playing staff and the club’s ambitions for the 2023/24 season.##NAJAVA_MECA_7318683##The talks are underway, but De Laurentiis won’t be rushed. After all, he’s shown many times that it’s either his way of the highway at Napoli. The wily businessman is waiting for PSG and Galtier to officially terminate their relationship so Napoli wouldn’t have to pay a compensation fee to the Ligue 1 winners. Then and only then will the two parties start talking contracts. The Frenchman is rubbing his hands, awaiting a severance fee of around $6 million from the club he led for a year. Napoli will offer Galtier a two-year contract worth around $4 million per season and will include an option for the third year. It’s the same option the Campania club used when they hired Spalletti in May 2021. It was a fruitful recipe – even if the experienced coach wasn’t activated for the third season. The title he brought to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona made his appointment more than worthwhile. It also makes Galtier’s potential arrival a pivotal one – because the ambitions of the Blues fans are now through the roof. They won’t settle for an OK season. Trophies are mandatory.Christophe Galtier’s time at PSG: 👕 50 Games as manager ✅ 34 Wins (68%)🤝🏼 6 Draws ❌ 10 Losses 🏆 1x French Ligue winner🏆 1x French SuperCup winner Next stop, Naples? 📍🇮🇹 pic.twitter.com/WKiBcYL0ol— StatmanJames (@JamesStatman) June 15, 2023 De Laurentiis seems to have finished his process of identifying alternatives. And if he were to skip the Galtier track for any reason, he has found the number two candidate in another Frenchman, Rudi Garcia, who knows Serie A from his time in charge of Roma. Paulo Sousa and Rafa Benitez are way below in the running. The big-shot producer is putting down the foundations for a new blockbuster. It remains to be seen whether it’ll be a crime thriller or just a weak comedy.
