What’s with the monkey noises at the U.S. Open? The answer is as L.A. as you might expect

Yes, that’s right. The headline is correct.

You may hear some monkey noises during the 2023 U.S. Open, which is taking place at the Los Angeles Country Club. And you can blame it all on the Playboy Mansion.

Why? Because the mansion is next door, and you may be aware that the mansion has its own zoo. In that zoo? Next to No. 14 on the course? You guessed it! There are monkeys!

Former PGA Tour golfer Smylie Kaufman captured the noises and shared them on Twitter earlier this week, and yep, turn up your volume and you could hear some screeching.

Plenty of monkey business happening to the right of 14 tee 🙊pic.twitter.com/0BJT0YhfU2

Took this video back in 2016 of the monkeys! It seems way more overgrown now and have no idea if they are still back there. 🙈pic.twitter.com/lCjESBwvBW
