It’s not a joke: Wijnaldum is too expensive for Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia launched its offensive against the Top 5 European league clubs. Every major player is a potential target, and money is no problem. Well, sort of… Almost unbelievable news is coming from this Middle East country. Apparently, one player’s demands are too high, and the Saudis are reluctant to pay. And what’s more interesting, it’s not one of the high profile players recently contacted, like Tottenham’s Son, or City’s Bernando Silva or Ryhiad Mahrez, but current PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.🚨 Saudi Arabia are trying to sign Gini Wijnaldum but the Dutch midfielder is requesting an “XXL” salary. 🤑🤑PSV and Feyenoord are also interested but he doesn’t want to go. 🇳🇱 (Source: @Santi_J_FM ) pic.twitter.com/mGY0ZbEhDY— Transfer News Live (@DeadlineDayLive) June 20, 2023 As per Get French Football News, the player is open to a move to the Middle East but wants a significant increase of his 9 million euros per year salary and he is also not interested in going back to his native Netherlands. He knows that he can always stay at PSG since he has a valid contract, and if he needs to move to Saudi Arabia, he wants to squeeze out as much as possible from the oil-rich country. Looking at his performances since he left Liverpool, he is not worth the money, but other factors are usually relevant when it comes to a potential transfer between a player and a certain club. Wijnaldum’s career has gone downhill since he left Liverpool. To be fair, he didn’t want to go, but the Reds didn’t offer him as much as he wanted and decided they could go on without him (which they did). So, he ended up in PSG as a free agent but soon lost his place in the starting 11 and never regained it. Last season, he cleverly decided to move to Roma on loan, but suffered a serious leg injury on the first training and missed most of the season in Italy.Saudi’s agression: They want Son, Mahrez and Silva, they want it allHe ended up playing in just 14 games for Roma and was sometimes even used in unfamiliar positions (like against Juventus when he played up front with Dybala), but he didn’t do well enough to impress Jose Mourinho, who didn’t give the green light to his directors to buy him in June. PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos has come to the club to create a new project and Gini Wijnaldum is not a part of it. Both Ajax and PSV are interested in bringing the 32-year midfielder back, but he doesn’t want to go to Holland, at least for now. His options are either Saudi Arabia (for big bucks), or PSG or some other European club (if there is one which can pay him).##NAJAVA_MECA_7331225##
