Omala’s young brother Dan Oluoch eager to leave a mark in school games with Kisumu Day

There are families in whose veins sport runs through, different disciplines- from the Omanyalas to the Wanyamas.The Oluochs are no different and if their latest is anything to bank on, then they might just have produced yet another gem in Dan Oluoch, younger brother to Kenyan International and current top scorer in the FKF Premier League Benson Oluoch Omalla.Currently captaining Kisumu Day High school in the ongoing Kenya Secondary School games, the 16-year-old has vowed to lift his side all the way to the East Africa games.Oluoch in actionKisumu Day, coached by Kisumu All Stars coach Andrew Aroka, overcame a stiff challenge in their central zone final against Kisumu Boys, ending their neighbours 2-1 in a hotly contested final last week. Ahead of the che county games begin on Wednesday 21 where they take on Nyakoko High for the first tie, the younger Oluoch is confident there is no stopping them.‘’The seemingly easiest games pose the greatest challenge so we will not underrate any team. Just like we did in the divisional games, we take one match at a time and ensure we bag all the points until we get to the final,’’ Says the skipper.Maseno school won the Kisumu West zone and are also in contention for the title and so are Onjiko High, Kit Mikayi and Kasagam Secondary.Omala, Rupia locked in heated Golden Boot race with only two matches to goOluoch sees the ongoing level as a good build-up for any team preparing for the higher levels. It’s not as easy to play as many people think, so he says.‘’We’ve seen big teams knocked out at such levels in the past and with that in mind, we are very cautious. The tough competition at this level however, means that any team that goes through will have prepared well for the next level,’’ says the lad who also skippers Manyatta United FC.Previous Kisumu Day squads haven’t made it to the ultimate match of the national finals including his elder brother’s 2019 team that was eliminated at the group stage in the nationals.
