Catherine Nabiswa on mission to see Kisumu All Starlets back in WPL

Kisumu All Starlets skipper Catherine Nabiswa is upbeat in her team’s swift return to the top-flight league following their relegation form the Women Premier League (WPL).The Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) league representative says the Kisumu-based team fell short due to lack of depth as some of their players were away or various reasons, including her absence due to injury.Esse Akida extends her stay at PAOKAs she makes a return to competitive football in the new season, the player who was elected to represent WPL clubs in their player association is keen to reclaim that top tier status.“I know it will be a huge task for the team but I believe in the squad. We have been in the premier league for years and we will work tirelessly for this. Our major undoing was lack of depth. We had players out on injury, some were away on maternity leave and other had school commitments. Most of these players are back and I can confidently say we will be in division one for just one season. We are coming back,” Nabiswa offered.##NAJAVA_MECA_7340403##Additionally, she has called on football stakeholders to put women’s football in the country on the same pedestal as their men counterparts.“We need to be given the same treatment and priorities as the FKFPL players and teams. Whether at club or national team level, the women’s game deserves to be treated well,” she said. Her plea comes in the face of the league winners, Vihiga Queens having been awarded a paltry Ksh 1 million for lifting their fifth title (including the caretaker committee-run league title), up from Ksh 350,000 awarded in the previous two seasons.Even with the increase in prize many, many stakeholders have expressed disappointment in the amount arguing that a league winner deserves better.Together, with all stakeholders, we have the power to create a brighter future for professional football players🇰🇪Let us embrace the challenges that lie ahead with determination and unity. We have proven time and again that when we stand as One, we can overcome #KefwaElections pic.twitter.com/AF3pda5CEw— KEFWA (@kefwaofficial) June 10, 2023
