Why AFC Leopards is yet to develop Kasarani land donated to the club by Moi

AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda was at pains during the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) over the weekend trying to explain why the club is yet to do any sort of development in a 20-acre piece of land donated to the FKFPL side by the late president Daniel Arap Moi in 1992.Gor Mahia were also beneficiaries of Moi’s generosity, getting 20 acres as well in Embakasi but who knows where exactly these two pieces of land are? And why is K’Ogalo disinterested in following up? Nobody knows. But for AFC Leopards, they have always been eager to have the land developed somehow, especially Dr. Shikanda’s administration.AFC Leopards coach leaves the country as row over contract extension escalatesThree years ago, Musalia Mudavadi, the club’s patron, donated slightly over Ksh 600,000 to the team to facilitate processing of documents for the parcel of land (land rates, penalties, title deed fees). “We want AFC Leopards to have a permanent home. Let the club leaders do their strategic plan and make this sporting complex become a center of pride for the sporting fraternity in this country,” Musalia said back then.”AFC Leopards has many fans and is an inspiration to many young people. And Ingwe members wanted answers during the AGM. The platform was meant to make land transactions easy and seamless but the Ministry of Lands is yet to finalise on it with Nairobi being the pilot.”We have to be patient for the title deed to be processed after the Government is done implementing it’s Ardhi Sasa initiative.” Shikanda told members.
