Murang’a Seal chairman Robert Macharia has expressed his disgust towards Football Kenya Federation’s (FKF) demand where the team have been asked to provide upto 40 uniformed police officers or a platoon of the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) for security purposes during their crucial match against Shabana that will be played at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a on Sunday. In an email sent to the club who have already sealed promotion to the top flight for the very first time but remain in the hunt for the NSL title, FKF classified the title deciding match, where Shabana could seal the title by avoiding defeat, as a high-risk match therefore necessitating the decision.

“Dear Murang’a Seal FC Chairman, Secretary, further to our pre- event meeting…we wish to inform you that the said match has been classified as a high risk due to the following reasons. The following of the two clubs is relatively huge with over 500 away fans (Shabana FC fans) expected to turn up for the match. The two clubs each have a chance of winning the National Super League. The structural design and location of the stadium makes it essential to have additional security to assist in crowd control,” the letter read from FKF’s Competitions manager Doreen Nabwire.##NAJAVA_MECA_7347346##However, Macharia claims a sense of witch-hunt from FKF noting that the two teams played the first leg without such demands being presented to Shabana who won the game 2-0 in contentious circumstances.“I asked FKF if they changed the law because the regulations state we just need to provide 2 security officers. They could not explain and started saying that I am becoming petty. We played Shabana in their home ground with more than 500 fans and they were not asked to provide that kind of security. I told them their demand clearly has nothing to do with the game and I feel it has something to do with more than security. Previously we have been docked points and one of the reasons they use is under security purposes. I told them to their faces that I know that is what they wanted to do because which police station in this country has 40 cops?” he questioned.
