Dalton Smith came out on top when he faced Sam Maxwell at Utilita Arena Sheffield in Sheffield, England on Saturday, July 1. The contest featured local British super lightweight champion up against London-born, Liverpool-based Commonwealth titleholder. The pair battled it out live on DAZN.
The scheduled for 12 rounds bout didn’t go the full distance. Smith, who got cut over both eyes due to head clashes, sent Maxwell to the canvas with a big right hand in the seventh round. The referee opened the count, but almost immediately waved the fight off.
With the victory by knockout, Dalton Smith improved his record to 15-0, 11 KOs and remained undefeated. Sheffield’s 26-year-old also retained his British title and claimed the Commonwealth strap.
Hackney, London-born 34-year-old Sam Maxwell dropped to 17-2, 11 KOs.
