Nakuru Bucks will grace Kenyan third tier competition after they saw off Ichuni Combined six goals to one in a promotion play off battle staged at Moi Stadium,Kisumu on Saturday. The one day mini – league brought together four teams that emerged victories in their respective FKF Division Two Central Zones. Baraka Roses, Nakuru Bucks,Ichuni Combined and Manyatta United all qualified from Zone A,B,C and D respectively. Peter Wekesa Coached Nakuru booked a slot in the finals after edging out Kisumu based Manyatta United 2-1 Courtesy of Jacob Wanyama and Captain Hassan Abdullahi strikes. Lenny Kigen’s Ichuni trounced Nyandarua outfit Baraka Roses 5-2 to qualify for the grand finale. In the finals, Nakuru based Bucks drew the first blood in the 41st minute after a slow start to the opener half, with Enock Omosa rounding up the Ichuni Combined custodian before tapping home on an empty net. Bucks headed into the dressing room with a one nil advantage. Immediately after the restart, Ichuni were quick to compose themselves and soon created openings of their own forcing goalkeeper Timothy Rashid into making acrobatic saves to keep the Zone B champions in play . Spectators who had thronged Moi Stadium, had to wait untill the 55th minute when Levius Juma’s thunderbolt from the edge of the box doubled the lead. Jacob Wanyama and Dennis Musalia scored in space of seven minutes afterwards to send the match far from Lenny Kigen’s charges reach with twenty minutes left on the clock. With the win, Nakuru Bucks are promoted to Football Kenya Federation division one Zone B for the upcoming season in which is their second promotion in one year . Ichuni Combined will battle out for one of the remaining two third tier slots with the runners up in FKF division two western Zone . On guiding his team to promotion, Bucks head coach Peter Wekesa said: “I’m happy to have guided this team to division One. My boys gave their all in the tie and I’m glad they played according to instructions. We were well prepared and the results have shown that . We are will have a two day break then embark on serious training and recruitment for the third tier .
