Revered grassroots football tournament Safaricom Chapa Dimba will finally kick off on the weekend 7-8 July, Mozzart Sport can confirm. Assistant Tournament Director Patrick Korir, while confirming the development, also revealed there will be a high-level meeting on Tuesday 4th July to align everything to ensure Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 4 is a success. “Everything is set now and we are looking forward to kicking off the tournament next weekend. We have a meeting off all regional heads and branch chairmen on Tuesday to set the ball rolling.” Korir told Mozzart Sport. Some notable figures to have risen from the tournament are Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala, Atem Kato who earned a sports scholarship to study while playing football in the US courtesy of his exploits while at Kapenguria Heroes. Safaricom pledge 400 million as Chapa Dimba makes comeback after two-year hiatusThe first edition of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Tournament was held in 2018, the second in 2019, while the third edition was paused midway in 2020 due to the eruption of the Covid-19 pandemic.Registration for this year’s edition of the tournament is currently ongoing in other regions apart from Western where it is already closed. The National finals will be played between 12-14 January 2024.
