Kenya has to get its organization right – Firat

Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat opines that Kenya must get their logistics organization right ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Preliminaries QualifiersKenya has been placed in group ‘F’ alongside bigwigs Ivory Coast, Gabon, Gambia, Burundi, and Seychelles.Speaking hours after the draw, Firat said: ”It is an interesting group of known African teams. When you look at Ivory Coast it is a side that prides itself in having individual quality.##NAJAVA_MECA_7372703##The rest of the teams thrive on teamwork and that makes it a very balanced group where everybody can win against everybody. In the same breath, I have to admit that Ivory Coast and Gabon maybe two steps ahead of the rest but you never know what can happen.”The Turkish promised that Kenya will have a big fight till the end but he insists that the country must get its organization right.“Gambia for example are on the other side of Africa and we must figure out how to travel hassle free. While some countries get business-class tickets for their players we are still struggling with how to bring our players as cheap as possible. This means that they sometimes have to stay at airports for long periods of time. We need to be more organized and united to help us put our quality on the field,” he said.He regretted that the team had missed playing against Djibouti last month after their flight to Mauritius was canceled at the last minute.Engin Firat coy on Harambee Stars’ World Cup chances“We had confirmed the flight with Kenya Airways only for it to be cancelled at the last minute. It was shocking to me that an official flight could be canceled and more so one where the national team was supposed to travel on. The net effect was that Djibouti was awarded the match 3-0 and this will affect our rankings even though they are way below us. My point is we need to fix a lot of other problems to get it right on the pitch,” the coach added.Firat also said his major focus is to take Harambee Stars to the next Africa Cup of Nations finals by winning their group.“Aside from the World Cup qualifiers, the next AFCON qualifiers are equally more important and not only are we targeting to qualify but do it by winning the group something that has never happened before.”
