The race to the national level of the Safaricom Chapa Dimba Tournament is gaining momentum in Western Kenya as the men category ushered in girls preliminary stages this past weekend with matches played across Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga and Bungoma counties.Kakamega County Butere Girls’ Red Commandos dominated the Weekend Fixtures overpowering their opponents Elites Bumamu and Buchenya Girls’ at Buchenya Girls’ Secondary School Grounds ,Butere to book a ticket at Kakamega county finals. Red Commandos registered the biggest win of the tournament in Butere Sub County ladies category humbling Elite Girls Bumamu four goals to nil before slicing Buchenya 1-0. Commandos get an automatic ticket to the county levels after only four ladies teams showed interest in the multi million tournament . In Ikolomani Sub County, Scorpions Musingu got the better part of Magharibi Soccer in the boys category to emerge top of the constituency pooling with eight points one ahead of the Magharibi boys and book a slot in the upcoming county games. At Nangili Primary School Grounds, St. Stephens Lwanda girls’ edged out Maica Queens and Heritage Queens to book a spot in the final aganist Mirembe Girls who saw off tough duo of Lusweti girls and Nangili queens. However, Heritage Queens failed to show up despite presenting all documentations and confirming participation in the youths tournament. At Lugari DEB grounds Lugari progressive started their title defense in a unique way winning all the opening matches to set up a final aganist Marukusi SC ladies for Lugari Sub County representatives.In Lurambi, it was a one team show as Sevilla Queens dismantled their opponents Shikoti Starlets,Mareba and Sasasa Girls to grab an automatic ticket to the county bonanza after only four teams registered for the girls category in the Bishop Titus Khamala governed area. Acakoro Ladies eye Safaricom Chapa Dimba National titleMatungu Sub county had only one team registered for the ladies competitions and therefore Kakamega Starlets advanced to the County level unopposed. Although the men category kicked off in Matungu over the weekend, with The Cranes United Stars blowing up Blue Eagles Indangalasia, Makunda and Mirea to join Kakamega Starlets as representatives of the constituency at the next level. In Mumias East, Indomitable girls thrashed Makunga and Promised Starlets two goals to nil each to emerge top of the pool on six points booking a spot at the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom next level while in Shinyalu only two teams showed interest in the prestigious tournament with Ileho finest edging out St. Agnes Shibuyu Girls to the sub county title. In the men’s category, Mark Shaban was on target scoring four times in as many as three games to aid Shanderema Secondary School past Shanana and Mandulu to Shinyalu sub county title. At Emulakha grounds Navakholo, FC Galactico, Seville High and Navakholo Secondary School booked a spot in the sub county finals as Sivile Girls defeated the only opponent in ladies category Musaga Girls to advance to the county level.The Kakamega County finals will be held at various sub counties in Kakamega on July 29th, 2023. Kitale Queens eager to defend Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom titleVihiga CountyMadira Girls recorded the biggest win of the tournament in Western region humiliating Lwanda South seven goals to nil in a match played at Maseno Polytechnic grounds to book a semi final fight aganist Gamalenga FC who thrashed Uplift FC four goals to nil .In quarter final three , Maroon Queens got the better part part of Mahudu to set up a semi final aganist Emanyinya queens who got a bye in the quarter finals. In semi final one , Maroon Queens overpowered Emanyinya in 5-3 in post match penalities to get a final slot aganist Madira Girls who edged out Gamalenga 3-0. In Pool B Bulemia booked a slot at the sub county semi finals after getting the better part of Bukhuma and Abaluhya in matches played at Bukhuma Primary School Grounds.Chakol girls braved stiff opposition from Father Okodoi and Lukolis to set up a semi final aganist Lioness. In the semi finals ,Chakol girls eliminated Lioness by solitary goal as tournament favorites Bulemia bowed out following a 3-1 humbling at St . Austine Kingandole.
