Chapa Dimba na Safaricom preliminary stages heads to Nyanza Region

Over 100 teams will take part in Nyanza region’s Safaricom Chapa Dimba tournament preliminary matches of the youth tournament this weekend.The region is divided into three with teams drawn from South Nyanza, North Nyanza and Western Nyanza battling for a chance to represent Nyanza in the national finals.The matches will be played at different counties in the region with Siaya, Nyamira, and Kisumu counties kicking off their games on Saturday 29 July while the other counties will play from 5th August.This follows a successful kick-off to the tournament in Western region with over 440 teams squiring out across Kakamega,Vihiga, Busia and Bungoma.Safaricom Chapa Dimba: Virembo, Shariringa, Bumuyange Forces, Zion, and Sharks shine in Western preliminariesThe competition will then move to the highlands of Rift Valley, sandy beaches of Coast, Eastern, Central, North Eastern and the Capital Nairobi regions as the race to the Nationals heats up.Both the boys and girls teams will play their group stage matches with the group winners proceeding to the next stage setting pace for regional knock out phaseAfter successful regional knockout phase, qualified teams will move on to the regional finals where the victorious teams will pocket up to Ksh 1 million in prize money. “We are ready to kick off our preliminary stages in Nyanza North that’s Siaya, Nyamira and Kisumu,” said Morris Onyango Tournament co-ordinator in Nyanza.The competition aims at scouting for youth talent, developing grassroots football and ultimately propelling gifted players to the national team.Safaricom Chapa Dimba: Virembo, Shariringa, Bumuyange Forces, Zion, and Sharks shine in Western preliminaries
