Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews is nearing a deal to join fellow FKF Premier League side Bandari FC, Mozzart Sport understands.Bandari Vice Chairman Twaha Mbarak has exclusively revealed that talks between both clubs have already taken place, and with agreements at that level done, personal terms are set to be finalized, before making the move official. The expectation around Bandari is that the deal is done.”The clubs have reached an agreement on the transfer, we are now finalising on the personal terms of the player.” Twaha confirmed to Mozzart Sport. Mathews, who still had a few months remaining on his running contract at Gor Mahia, had earlier this week in a Facebook post hinted at a move away from the club saying; “Great team, worthy fight, a group to remember and a team to remember.”The confirmed move, will now see him end his three year spell at K’Ogalo, a club he signed for in the beginning of the 2020-2021 season, joining in from Wazito FC – now Muhoroni Youth FC.##NAJAVA_MECA_7398253##The 27-year old didn’t take long to assert himself as a starter there, as he dislodged former keeper Boniface Oluoch as Gor Mahia’s safe pair of hands and put in a good shift for the club. He was particularly impressive in that season’s FKF Cup when he led his team to its first cup in nine years after saving penalties in the semifinal and final matches against Bidco United and arch rivals AFC Leopards respectively. The former Kariobangi Sharks shot-stopper was also the team’s starter as Gor Mahia claimed their 20th FKF Premier League title last season.A move to Bandari will see him reunite with Jerim Onyango – who was recently appointed as the team’s new goalkeeping coach, and will place him in a fancy position to start games, with the duo of Michael Wanyika and Joseph Ochuka failing to establish themselves as dependable starters. Gor Mahia sign Sofapaka keeper amidst Gad Mathews departure talksThis comes at the same time when Gor Mahia have earlier in the week, confirmed the roping in of former Sofapaka goalkeeper Kevin Omondi. It was reported that Matthews had not reported to Gor Mahia’s pre-season camp early this week.
