Yoenis Tellez drops & stops Sergio Garcia in third round

Yoenis Tellez claimed a dominant win and remained undefeated when he faced Sergio Garcia at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 29. The pair squared off in the telecast opener, leading to the highly anticipated clash between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford live on Showtime PPV.

In Australia, the event aired on Sunday, July 30 live on Kayo.

The scheduled for 10 rounds super welterweight bout ended prior to the final bell. Tellez (6-0, 5 KOs) first sat Garcia (34-3, 14 KOs) down with a big over hand right that was followed by another right, dropping him to the canvas. The Spanish boxer got back on his feet, and started telling the referee, who was continuing with an eight count, that he was ready go to.

As soon as the fight resumed, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba native restarted his assault delivering heavy punches to the head and body. While Garcia was mostly covering up, he still tried to fight back, but that was not enough for the referee, who jumped in and called it a day to save him from further punishment.

The fight was stopped at 2 minutes and 2 seconds into the third round. Garcia seemed unhappy with a stoppage.
