The scheduled for eight rounds middleweight bout didn’t go the distance. Martinez came out on top multiple times sending Wise to the canvas. Referee Robert Hoyle waved the fight off at 2 minutes and 2 seconds into the first round.
With the victory by TKO, Javier Martinez improved to 9-0-1, 3 KOs. The 28-year-old native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin remained undefeated.
Isaiah Wise dropped to 11-3-2, 6 KOs. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s 31-year-old got his four-win streak snapped.
