‘I love Tyson Fury’: Oleksandr Usyk hopes postponed bout will happen in February – video

Oleksandr Usyk has said he hopes his long-awaited world heavyweight unification bout against Tyson Fury will happen in February. Usyk, who holds the IBF, WBO and IBO belts, had been due to fight WBC champion Fury in Saudi Arabia on 23 December, but the fight has been pushed back to February following the Briton’s alarming display against MMA fighter Francis Ngannou last month. After his struggles in that fight, in which Fury was knocked down, his team contacted Usyk to postpone, although an exact date in February has yet to be confirmed. On the scheduling, Usyk said: “I’m not 100% sure. I will be sure when I’m in the ring. I will stand in one corner, Tyson Fury will stand in the opposite corner, between us a referee in a white shirt, and only when I hear the sound of a bell – that’s when I’ll understand that yes, the game is on.”
